You know you’ve created something solid when you do something to piss off most of your community and still manage to get away with it. When Google decided to add Google+ to YouTube, people were angry. Everybody hated the new comment system, as well as the fact that now they had to create Google+ accounts in order to leave comments. And even though the change was universally hated, it was finally accepted because YouTube is the most popular video sharing site in the whole of creation.
How Does YouTube Marketing Work and Why Should You Care?
In case we didn’t make it clear enough, people love YouTube. They hate the changes related to it, but they love the site itself. Tons of new content are uploaded every minute and people still can’t get enough. This is what makes it more effective than TV marketing. Need we say more? Effective YouTube marketing is one of the ways to improve your sales without pouring too much money. Not that it’s going to be free, but there are way more expensive and less effective marketing tools out there. If people see a well-made YouTube video, they are far more likely to click on the link to your site than if they see a bad pop-up. But in order to make that happen, you need to keep three things in mind.
#1. Make Your Videos Compelling and Entertaining
Just because it’s a business oriented video (or essentially a long ad for your products and services) doesn’t mean that you need to suck the life out of it. Start with a joke or something. Make it interesting. People turn to YouTube for entertainment. How do you think they will feel if they find a stiff, corporate video after a series of funny cat clips (for example)? Doesn’t leave the best impression, does it? Spend more time and make it right. It’s better to have one good video than nine bad ones. This is essential for effective YouTube marketing.
#2. Make Sure People Can Actually Find Your Videos
The darkest corners of YouTube are filled with videos seen by 30-40 people at best. This is not where you want to be. Make sure that your videos are well optimized and easy to find. Here’s how you do it:
#3. Integrate YouTube with Your Other Forms of Effective Marketing
Never think that only one form of effective marketing will do the trick. Think outside the box. Improvise and combine. YouTube is great but unless you also have proper SEO, blogging, social media exposure and more, then you won’t be able to achieve your goals.
